If you’ve gone to a wedding, chances are you’ve sat in Chiavari Chair. From White House events to weddings nationwide, this chair is the workhorse of event chairs. Light, easily stackable, yet elegant – there is a explanation why they create the wedding rounds.
Chiavari chairs are named for your Italian city where they originated. This little town, located between Genoa and also the Cinque Terre, began producing these chairs at the start of the nineteenth century. (In the recent We Love It Wild column, one of several girls from Studio Choo recounted a flower-filled journey to Chiavari and also the surrounding Cinque Terre towns!) It was here in 1795 how the Descalzi brothers opened their famous furniture workshop. In 1807, Gaetano Descalzi created a light, elegant, yet solid, cherrywood chair – the chair Chiavarine.
Chiavari chairs are in reality a variety of chair known as a balloon-backed chairs. The style was based on the Louis XV panel-back side chair – with no back upholstery. (Here’s a Louis chair refresher!) Many of these balloon-backed chairs were even constructed from papier-mâché – and everybody had one – Queen Victoria, the Crown Prince Friedrich as well as Napoleon III with his fantastic fashionable wife Eugénie had the Chiavari chairs at St.-Cloud and Fontainebleau.
The chair jumped from your dining-room on the ballroom – and is one of the classic wedding chair. It probably didn’t hurt tradition that this Kennedy’s used Cross Back Chair at their 900-guest wedding in 1953.
In 1957, Cassina manufactured Gio Ponti’s homage for the chairs that he or she had seen with the seaside – the Chiavari chairs. The Superleggera was advertised as being so lightweight that a child could lift it having a single finger!

dinner party in the midst of nowhere from jordan ferney of oh happy day
You obviously don’t must wait around for “the big day” to use the Folding Chair manufacturers This is among my personal favorite ideas through the fabulous Jordan Ferney of Oh Happy Day. Jordan setup this 59dexqpky for any birthday celebration right in the middle of Aquatic Park pier in San Francisco (She calls it a Dinner Party in the midst of Nowhere!) Jordan transported a complete four-course meal out here! Fun!
